SolarWinds N-Central - CSR generation
This manual is for SolarWinds N-Central. The appliance has a built-in CSR generator so the CSR doesn't need to be created externally.
A Certificate Signing Request (CSR) is required when applying for an SSL certificate. This CSR (and private key) can be generated on your webserver. To request a wildcard certificate, fill in an * (asterisk) for the subdomain, for example *.sslcertificaten.nl (instead of www.sslcertificates.nl).
- Log into your SolarWinds N-Central appliance with an Administrator role and stay at the System Level
- Navigate to Administration > Certificate Management and open the Generate and Download Certificate tab.
- A new page will be shown where you need to fill in the required information. Click on the Generate button when done.
- You need to login again now with an Administrator role and stay at the System Level, and wait for a few minutes to have the key and CSR generated.
- Navigate to Administration > Certificate Management and open the Generate and Download Certificate tab.
- Click Download and download again to save the CSR file.
- A download will start with the new CSR. With this CSR you request a certificate via our website.
- The generated private key will be stored within the SolarWinds N-Central installation, this will be used for the installation of your certificate. You are now all set to order the certificate.
To order a certificate, copy the entire contents of the generated CSR, including the first and last line and all dashes.
