Wildcard and mobile devices

Wildcard certificates are not supported by Windows Phone-based devices using Windows Mobile version 5 or earlier. The browser used in this operating system is more or less a simplified version of the Windows desktop version, which doesn’t have wildcard support. The only option for supporting Windows Mobile version 5 or earlier is purchasing individual certificates for the respective subdomains.

Note that Windows Mobile 6 and newer do support wildcard certificates.
